ISSUES OF EQUAL ACCESS IN THE ELECTORAL PROCESS IN THE FOCUS OF ELECTION ORGANIZERS

Today, on February 21, 2023, in Tashkent started a training seminar on "Gender Equality and Elections" for election officials, organized within the framework of cooperation between the CEC and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) with the involvement of the BRIDGE Program, which relies on resources Network Analytical Database on Electoral Law (ACE Electoral Knowledge Network).

 

The opening ceremony of the event was attended by CEC Deputy Chairman Bakhrom Kuchkarov, Director of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) for Uzbekistan Tamar Zhvania, IFES Election management, operations and capacity building consultant Pavel Kabachenko.

 

The training is based on the module “Gender Equality and Elections” BRIDGE program.

 

This gender-based module examines the barriers that men and women face in accessing various electoral processes, as well as steps to be taken by electoral commissions and key electoral partners to overcome existing obstacles.

 

The three-day training workshop will review international principles and standards, best practices, issues, solutions and recommendations on gender issues reflected in the OSCE ODIHR reports on Uzbekistan. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss gender and electoral cooperation, mutual gender mainstreaming strategies and action plans to overcome barriers to effective participation in the electoral process faced by women.

 

At the end of the training seminar, participants will receive international certificates of BRIDGE program participation.

 

The training event is conducted by international experts accredited by the BRIDGE program.
