On December 18, 2023, the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted Constitutional Law No. 883-O "On Amending and Supplementing Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Further Improve the Procedure for Conducting Elections and Referendums." This law introduces a mixed electoral system (combining majoritarian and proportional systems) for electing deputies to the Oliy Majlis, as well as aims to streamline the electoral system of the electoral bodies.
In line with the amendments made to the Electoral Code and taking into account the activities of the Central Election Commission, it was determined that changes and additions need to be made to 14 regulations and bylaws of the Legislative Chamber and local councils regarding the organization and conduct of elections.
Up to date, the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan has drafted and adopted the following regulations:
- Resolution No. 1329 of May 27, 2024, "On Approval of the Regulations of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan";
- Resolution No. 1330 of May 27, 2024, "On Approval of the Regulation on District Election Commissions";
- Resolution No. 1335 of June 5, 2024, "On Approval of the Regulation on City and District Election Commissions";
- Resolution No. 1336 of June 5, 2024, "On Approval of the Regulation on District Election Commissions";
- Resolution No. 1337 of June 5, 2024, "On Approval of the Regulation on Polling Station Election Commissions";
- Resolution No. 1338 of June 5, 2024, "On Approval of the Regulation on the Formation of Electoral Districts and Polling Stations";
- Resolution No. 1339 of June 5, 2024, "On Approval of the Regulation on Declaring Certain Decisions of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan Invalid".
These decisions are aimed at improving the organization and conduct of elections in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
