On December 23, 2007 was held the election of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. 16 million 297 thousand 400 voters were registered, 14 million 765,444 of this amount, or 90.6%, attended in elections.
According to the results of the election from the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen - candidate from the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov voted by 13,8 million 357 or 88,1% of the total number of voters. Asliddin Ashurboevich Rustamov, candidate for the People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, voted by 468,664 voters or 3.17% of the total number of voters, 420,815 voters or 2% of the total number of voters voted for Akmal Xolmatovich Saidov, 434 thousand 111 or 2,9 % from the total number of the voters voted for Dilorom Gafurjonovna Tashmuhamedova.
In accordance with Articles 14, 35 of the Law on Elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted a decision on the appointment of Islam Abduganievich Karimov as President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
