Preparations for the important political event in our country - the elections of deputies to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and local Сouncils (Kengashes), which will be held on October 27, 2024, are in full swing. In accordance with the norms of electoral legislation and the schedule of the Central Election Commission for holding the elections, the gradual implementation of all activities and processes in the allotted time is ensured.

On this basis, issues related to the organization and trial introduction of electronic voting at some polling stations, the adoption of measures for online video broadcasting of voting at polling stations, the accreditation of observers from foreign organizations and foreign states, the examination of complaints received during the election campaign and the work carried out in the Andijan and Khorezm regions were discussed at the regular meeting of the Central Election Commission on 12 October this year.

The meeting discussed whether, for the first time in the country's history, electronic voting should be tested in some polling stations on Election Day to offer voters greater convenience.

37 of the electronic voting machines to be tested in this year's elections have been used in other countries (USA, Germany, United Kingdom, Italy, Brazil, Singapore, Australia, etc.), with the help of which more than 6.5 billion voters have cast their votes so far.

It should be noted that the electronic voting procedure serves to ensure that votes are cast and election results are determined quickly, to guarantee the legality of the voting processes and to optimize the workload of the election commissions.

Against this background, the Central Election Commission has adopted a Resolution to test the electronic voting procedure on Election Day in some polling stations on the territory of the city of Tashkent.

In accordance with the Resolution, it is stipulated that voters in polling stations where electronic voting is being tested have the right to choose independently between the traditional and electronic forms of voting.

The Commission Resolution also approved the procedure for filling in the ballot paper using electronic voting machines.

The issue of online broadcasting of voting via the Internet at polling stations in the upcoming elections was also discussed.

At the meeting, specific measures were defined for the video broadcasting of voting in polling stations that meet the technical requirements of online broadcasting via the Internet and the corresponding decision was taken.

Meanwhile, applications for accreditation of observers from abroad continue to be received via the interactive information system “E-Saylov”.

In this context, the session adopted a Resolution of the Central Election Commission on the accreditation of observers from international organizations and foreign states.

Relevant decisions were also taken on other agenda items.
