Citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan have the right to elect and be elected to representative bodies of state power. Each voter has one vote. The right to vote, equality, and freedom of expression are guaranteed by law.
In the Republic of Uzbekistan, elections are conducted on the basis of universal, equal, and direct suffrage through secret ballot.
Citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan who have reached the age of 18 by or on election day have the right to vote.
Citizens declared legally incompetent by a court, as well as persons held in places of deprivation of liberty by court sentence for committing serious and especially serious crimes, can be deprived of the right to participate in elections only in accordance with the law and on the basis of a court decision. In other cases, direct or indirect restriction of citizens' electoral rights is not allowed.
