According to the results of the inspection and in accordance with Article 26 of the Law on Elections to the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Central Election Commission has adopted resolution on registration of 517 candidates for deputies to Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, in particular 123 candidates from “Adolat” Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, 125 from the “Milliy Tiklanish” Democratic Party,135 from the Movements of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen - Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan and 134 from the People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan.

 

15,108,950 voters from 17 million 215,700 citizens who included to the voter list attended in elections which is 87.8% of the total number of voters.

 

More than 33% of the registered voters in all 135 constituencies participated in the voting and according to the electoral legislation, the elections considered as have been held. According to the results of the elections, deputies were elected in 96 constituencies. 33 of them are from the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen - Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, 25 - the Democratic Party of Uzbekistan "Milliy Tiklanish", 22 - the People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, and 16 - the Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan "Adolat". 96 from the elected deputies, 19 of them or 19.8 percent are women.

 

As of December 27, 2009, in 39 of the 135 constituencies, none of the candidates for the Legislative Chamber was able to collect enough votes to stand for election. On January 10, 2010 it was decided to hold a re-election. According to the election legislation, the second round of voting was held in each of the 39 constituencies by two candidate candidates who received the largest number of votes in the main election. In these constituencies, 3 million 960 thousand or 79.7 percent of the 4 million 969 thousand 547 voters whose names were included in the voter lists participated in the repeat voting.

 

According to the results of the elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan 150 candidates were elected, and 6,124 deputies were elected to local Kengashes.

 

In particular, 53 deputies from the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, 32 from the People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, 31 from the Democratic Party of Uzbekistan “Milliy Tiklanish” were elected, and 19 deputies from the Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan “Adolat”. 15 deputies are representatives of the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan. 33 deputies or 22 % from 150 elected deputies are women. 47 or 31.3% of the voted candidates were the deputies of the Legislative Chamber.

 

84 members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis were elected at the respective joint meetings of the deputies of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, representative bodies of provincial, district and city government held on January 20-22, 2010 in full compliance with the electoral legislation. By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on January 22, 2010, 16 of our compatriots, who have extensive practical experience and special services in various spheres of society, have been appointed members of the Senate.

 

More than 270 observers from 36 countries and 4 international organizations participated in the elections. In particular, 13 representatives from the Bureau for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, 84 from the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States, 5 from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and 7 from the Organization of the Islamic Conference. In addition, more than 30,000 observers and 30,000 authorized representatives of political parties nominated candidates for the Legislative Chamber.

 

The election process was covered by more than 500 domestic and more than 200 foreign media.
