At the invitation of the Central Electoral Commission, a CIS Observer Mission led by Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Sergey Lebedev, visited our country to observe the process of preparing and administering the referendum to be held on 30 April.
Zayniddin Nizamkhodjaev, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission, met with Sergey Lebedev, Head of the CIS Observer Mission, today, 12 April.
It was stressed that the work for the preparation and holding of the referendum scheduled for April 30 is organized in line with the legal requirements and democratic principles.
During the meeting, the Head of the Mission briefed on the composition of the CIS Observer Mission for monitoring referendum processes and the operating procedures of the observers in our country.
It was underlined that the Mission is made up of representatives of the legislative, executive and election authorities of the CIS member states as well as of the Commonwealth bodies and the integration associations operating in the CIS. The CIS Observer Mission will draft a statement on the compliance of the referendum with the national legislation and the country's international commitments.
During its visit to Uzbekistan, the CIS Observer Mission, after attending a number of referendum precincts in our republic, plans to issue its relevant opinions and make recommendations on the referendum.
