On September 26 this year, a meeting was held at the Central Election Commission with representatives of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, who had come to our country to observe the elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and to the Councils (Kengashes) of People's Deputies.
The meeting was attended by Mr. S. Karavaev, Advisor to the Secretary General of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly Council, and Mr. S. Tkachenko, Expert of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD).
During the meeting, the Chairperson of the CEC, Z. Nizamkhodjaev, emphasized the constructive cooperation with the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly. In addition to being one of the partners of the CEC in the field of elections in the Commonwealth, it also actively participates in monitoring the elections that have taken place in Uzbekistan in recent years and in submitting important recommendations on the results.
The importance of implementing the recommendations of the election observation missions of international organizations, including the IPA CIS, into national legislation and practice to improve the legal framework for elections was highlighted.
Moreover, during the meeting, detailed information was given about the upcoming elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Councils (Kengashes) of People's Deputies, which will be held in our country on October 27 this year on the basis of the mixed electoral system, and its specifics. They also spoke about the importance of such an innovation as the introduction of the “E-Saylov” information system into the national electoral practice and its advantages.
In turn, the representatives of the mission wished success in conducting the upcoming elections at a high organizational level on the basis of generally accepted international democratic principles.
