On April 28, a meeting was held with the head of the CIS Observer Mission, Sergey Lebedev, who had come to our country to observe the preparations and holding of the referendum in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
At the meeting, the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission, Zayniddin Nizamkhodjayev, spoke in detail about the improvement of the process of preparation and holding of the referendum in accordance with international standards, systematic work on the preparation and holding of the referendum on the basis of the schedule approved by the Central Election Commission and national legislation.
For his part, the head of the mission, Sergey Lebedev, noted that the referendum was prepared on the basis of democratic principles, fully complies with international norms and standards, and all necessary measures were taken to ensure the free voting of citizens.
It should be noted that the CIS Executive Committee has extensive experience in organizing international observation, as well as a developed legal framework for observing elections and referendums.
On the proposal of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Observer Mission of the CIS Executive Committee will monitor the preparation and holding of the referendum scheduled for April 30. During its stay in Uzbekistan, the Mission has visited a number of referendum precincts and will present its conclusions and recommendations following its observations.
