Memo for candidates for the Presidency of the Republic of Uzbekistan

Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan Article 106.
 
 
A citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan not younger than thirty five years, being in full command of the state language and permanently residing on the territory of Uzbekistan for at least 10 years, immediately preceding the elections, may be elected the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. One and the same person may not be the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for more than two consecutive terms.
 
 
 
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan shall be elected by citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the basis of the universal, equal and direct suffrage by secret ballot for the term of seven years. The procedure for electing the President shall be defined by law of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Article 61. Requirements for Candidates for the Presidency of the Republic of Uzbekistan

 

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan is elected for a term of seven years. The same person cannot be President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for more than two consecutive terms.

 

A citizen who is at least thirty-five years old, fluent in the state language, and has permanently resided in the territory of Uzbekistan for at least ten years immediately before the election can be elected President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

 

The following individuals are not eligible for registration as candidates for the Presidency of the Republic of Uzbekistan:

 

citizens previously convicted of intentional crimes;

 

professional clergy of religious organizations and associations.
